FISHING HAVEN AWAITS AT UNCLE BILLY'S RETREAT.
Set in beautiful Ben Lomond (approx 50 mins drive from Armidale & 25 mins from Guyra), Uncle Billy’s Retreat is a fisherman’s paradise.
The retreat was founded in 1995 by Bill and Sue Atkin, who were one of the first people in New England to successfully incorporate an aquaculture operation onto their family property. The retreat and fishing lakes are now cared for and maintained by youngest son Rob and wife Mel.
All in all there are four fully stocked lakes. The cool climate and natural conditions provide some of the best quality still water fly fishing in the country. We have two different accommodation sites. On booking our accommodation you will be given exclusive access to the lake you have booked i.e. no other guests will be given access or be able to fish that lake. There are also two other shared lakes located between the two accommodation sites. Guests from the either of the accommodation sites can access these two lakes during their stay.
The fishing is suited to experienced fishermen, as well as novices and is often used as a site for club competitions and other trophy worthy events.
