When visiting Uncle Billy’s, take time to relax and enjoy the tranquil scenery, take a bush walk, cast a fly rod and catch a rainbow trout, catch some freshwater yabbies, observe the many species of birds, read a book beside a cosy wood fire, watch the sun rise or sun set, or just do nothing.

- Ben Lomond
The village of Ben Lomond is just 13 km east of “Yoolimba” on the Wandsworth Road. It has the highest railway station in NSW and is 1363 metres above sea level. There is a General Store where guests can purchase grocery items, refreshments, newspapers, etc.

- Guyra
Guyra is our closest shopping centre and is 31 km from “Yoolimba” on the Guyra/Tingha road. Recently a very large hydroponic tomato farm was established. The main street has been revitalised with boutique shops and coffee shops plus many retail stores. The Tourist Information Centre situated at Rafters on the New England Highway, is a popular meeting spot for coffee, lunch or dinner. Towards the end of January The Lamb & Potato Festival is held promoting Guyra’s produce and attracts many people to the area.
The Mother of Ducks Nature Reserve is a major attraction. It is one of the rare high country wetlands which is home to many waterbirds.

- Glen Innes / Severn
Glen Innes to the north has a population of 10,000. There are many attractions including the Celtic Festival in May.

- Armidale
Armidale, a cosmopolitan city, approx 40 kms to the south of Guyra on the New England Highway, has a population of 25,000. It is famous for its Historic UNE, many fine restaurants, galleries and wineries. The city is home to Elegant Cathedrals and in May each year Wool Expo in held promoting New England’s merino sheep.

- Tingha
Tinga to the west of Uncle Billy’s on the Inverell Road is an old mining town. The Wing Hing Long Store, once a rural General Store, is worth a visit. Travel south to Green Valley and enjoy a picnic and a fun day.

Inverell, further to the west, is the Sapphire City and as the name suggests is the perfect place to go fossicking. Industry includes Agriculture, Tourism, fossicking, water sports, wine.
