Black Flash Woolly Bugger

Hook: 8 - 10
Head: Black thread
Body: Black chenille & hackle
Tail: Black marabou & crystal flash
The fly featured this month is the "Black Flash Woolly Bugger".

Weather conditions during October 2004 were varied with some very warm weather, 92 mm rain recorded and cold weather with some late frosts.

There was not a lot of surface activity and most trout were caught down deep on Woolly Buggers with a bit of sparkle, Hammil Killers and small brown Bead-Head Nymphs.

Dry fly fishing proved difficult with hatches of very minute insects being hard to imitate. Good numbers of healthy rainbow trout were caught weighing from 3½lb to 5½lb.
