After experiencing a mild autumn, winter has suddenly arrived, with frosts, temperatures down to minus 3 degrees celsius and cool days to follow.

A lot of trout have been caught this month (May 2003) mainly on nymphs but a few have also been caught on dry including the Royal Wulff. The fly that has had the main success is a "Hares Ear Emerger".
