The fly featured this month is the "Olive Bead-Head Woolly Bugger".
It has been very dry at Uncle Billy's Retreat over the last six weeks, with no rain recorded. The days have been very pleasant with temperatures reaching the mid 20s. Over night temperatures dropped to produce cold mornings.
During Easter this year some great trout were caught. A beautiful Brown (see the Gallery Page, "Easter 2005: Beautiful Brown trout"), and a 5½lb Rainbow trout (see the Gallery Page, "Easter 2005: 5½lb Rainbow") were caught. Three and four pound trout were also caught. The most successful technique was using an intermediate line, and fast stripping an olive bead-head woolly bugger.
There were a few hatches during the day over Easter, but the trout were not feeding heavily during these periods. The water quality in Lake Yoolimba has been excellent, and trout could often be seen cruising the edges for food.
