The fly featured this month is the "Mayfly Nymph".
July 2003 has seen some very extreme weather conditions. Mild weather in mid July with day temperatures to 18 degrees celsius. The latter part of the month we have experienced snow, wind and frosts with temperatures down to -7 degrees celsius.
The colder weather has seen some of the bigger fish caught - up to 5 kgs. The fly that has had the most success was a black Mayfly Nymph. Other flies that have worked well were the Sparkly Woolly Bugger, Black Woolly Bugger, MRE (as featured in the Autumn 2003 edition of Flylife magazine), and the Fiery Brown Beetle.
